Where to go in Russia
Moscow is the capital city of the Car Hire Russia Federation. Its population is more than 11 million people. The city is a regional economic, political, cultural, and entertainment center. The city provides a wide variety of tourism activities that can satisfies everybody’s taste. The most famous spots that have to be seen are the Red Square, the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Historic Museum, “GUM” mall, “CUM” mall, the Tretyakov Gallery, The Pushkin Museum, and the Great Patriotic War museum. Among the best parks to spend some time in are the Victory Park, Gorky Park and Tsaritsino Park. Other very famous destinations are the Old and New Arbat Street and Moscow University.
For those interested in other type of tourism the city offers exceptional nightlife. Some of the best clubs in the world are in Moscow. There are numerous cafes, restaurants and bars.
St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg was built by Peter the Great completely from scratch. It was Russia’s capital from its creation in the 17th century till the time of the Great October Revolution. The city is considered the European, cultural, “second” capital of Russia. The city attracts a greater amount of foreign tourists that Moscow with its magnificent architecture and elegance. Some of the most famous tourist spots are Alexandrovskaya Column, St Isaac’s Cathedral, Kazansky Cathedral, St Peter and Paul Fortress, Yusupov Mansion, Nevsky Prospekt. The homes of Dostoyevsky, Pushkin, Anna Akhmatova and Rimsky-Korsakov are turned into museums dedicated to their former inhabitants. Outside the city you should definitely see Petrohof and Tsarskoye Selo.
The Golden Ring
The Golden Ring represents several ancient towns around Moscow that have considerable historic, architectural and spiritual importance. The most famous ones are Sergiyev Posad, Sofrin, Rostov Veliky, Yaroslav, Kostroma, Suzdal, Vladimir, and Uglich. There you can see a great collection of old Russian churches, monasteries, fortresses and palaces. They are easily accessible by bus and train from the capital.
Lake Baikal
Lake Baikal is world’s deepest lake- 1637 meters. It has considerable size and shoreline. There are the Ushkan and Olknon islands inside it. The climate around the lake is harsh and the lake freezes quite often. The area provides very good opportunities to see unique flora and fauna, enjoy the purity of the lake and the serenity of the nature around it.
Siberia
Siberia is a great landmass the size of Western Europe with bountiful rivers and lakes. It is covered by taiga, steppe, tundra and arctic waste. There are many cities in this region but there are still places that are almost unreachable. Siberia is crossed by the famous Trans-Siberian train- world’s longest continuous train. The area attracts tourists with its immense vastness and wild beauty.
Sochi
Sochi is Russia’s biggest sea resort. It is situated on the Black Sea and is close to the Caucasus Mountains. The city provides many tourist facilities and entertainment as well as various boat trips in the sea. Some of the most famous places are the Bolshoy Akhun (an observation tower), the Riviera Park and the Botanic Garden.
