Yesterday, a conference regarding the construction and modernization of the airports in Russia was held by Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister of Russia, as a part of his working trip to the North Caucasian Federal district.
A source from the government has said that at the conference, all the prospects for the development of the airports and the measures that support the transport industry will be discussed by the government members and leaders of the specialized federal agencies.
Putin, who at a recent inter regional conference has raised a question of the construction of the airports, has said that there would be the reconstruction of all the basic airports in North Caucasus, highlighting the Mineral Waters in Stavropol, Magas in Ingushetia, and the Shpakovskoye airport and to reconstruct 3 airports, 485 million roubles have been allocated from the federal budget in 2010.
At present, 328 airports are registered at Russia’s civil aviation and since 1992; the airport numbers have been decreased by 973. 65% of the airports are equipped with navigational lighting aids and only 46% of the runways with synthetic surface and 18% of the runways with a clay surface have to be modernized.
The investment potential will be expanded with the practice of handling over airports to the Russian regions. The federal property from the shares of the joint stock companies and the property of the airport complexes, under a strong guarantee of investments, are handed over to the Russian regions.
