Russia with love

The Russian Federation is the largest country in the world covering 1/7th of the total land of our planet, extending halfway around the northern hemisphere and covering much of eastern and north-eastern Europe and the whole of northern Asia.  Russia neighbors more countries than any country on earth

St. Petersburg alone is home to 221 museums, 2,000 libraries, more than 80 theaters, 100 concert organizations, 45 art galleries, 62 movie theaters and 80 nightclubs. Over 100 cultural and art festivals every year, including 50 international ones are held in St. Petersburg each year.

In Moscow the main attraction of the city is Red Square with its onion domed Russian orthodox churches. On one side of it lies the Kremlin surrounded by a thick red fortress containing 20 towers.

Bolshoi Theater and Pushkin Art Gallery in Moscow, and Mariinsky Theater and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg are among the best art institutions in the world.

The Ural Mountains the oldest mountains in the world and Lake Baikal, the world’s deepest lake and the largest reservoir of fresh water on earth are in Russia.

Russia is the only country with 12 seas’ on its territory.  Russia also has 100 reserves and 35 national parks.

Chess is a national obsession while Soccer is the top sport in Russia. Ice hockey and ice skating are also popular.

Russia requires American, Canadian, Australian, European and other Western travelers to have visas in order to enter the country.  Late April or early May,  late September or early October are the best times to visit Russia just off the tourist season.

Car hire companies like Sixt, Hertz, Auto Europe, and Europcar have offices in Russia.
